By The Woods is my first album. I hope it gives you the feeling that you are sitting on the piano bench next to me as I play these songs for you. These little tunes all remind me of a certain person or place in my life, but they could each mean something completely different for each of you, that is the beauty of music. The title comes from a poem by Robert Frost that I particularly like. All 14 songs were recorded, mixed and mastered by me in my Minneapolis studio.

I’m listening to Gaslight again as I have every night for the last few weeks. It has become a ritual - Gaslight followed by Eno’s Ambient 1: Music for Airports. It helps to relax me and the kids ready for bedtime. Yes it’s beautiful but it has proper relaxing utility which brings me back over and over again. Chris Smith
